This and that

Hey all! Thanks so much for the encouraging comments! Those of you that know me know that I’m one of those ‘let me blend in’ kind of people. If there’s a crowd, I’ll be the one in the middle or at the back trying not to be noticed! It’s not in my nature to be at the front and, although I’ve been contemplating doing this for a while, there’s no doubt that the thought of actually putting myself and my thoughts out there in blog-land somehow felt to me like standing way out on my own waving my arms wildly saying ‘look at me’!! But, now that I’ve done it I’m realising that everything is still fine in my world, I’m not going to be struck down by lightening and in the vast expanse of blogging out there I’m very much ‘one of the crowd’ and I should just settle in and enjoy it.

Stitching-wise you’ll see I’m still working on Betsy. I always have been, and probably always will be, a ‘one project at a time and work on it until it’s finished’ person although my stash is not totally free of UFO’s (DT’s Toccata I comes to mind straightaway but let’s not talk about that this time!). The word ‘rotation’ is yet to be in my stitching vocabulary. I see how it can work well but I have this mental image of me going round and round in circles and never actually finishing anything! Now, in truth, I do slip the occasional smaller project in and I’m starting to hear those words that should only be whispered when we’re still in October …… Christmas stitching ….. perish the thought! However, I know that I need to start thinking about it now and then I’ll actually get some done. Can someone please tell me why 2009 seems to be going so quickly?!?!?!?!

Okay, let me leave you with a picture of my progress on Betsy.

Until next time…..

I like your voice on here..it's you but you are projecting...from the middle of the pack or from the back of the room, but you are projecting and it's the most lovely sound! ♥

She is looking good Lois! Claire and I are *avid* Diana Gabaldon fans - where did you lay your hands on the new book? Write and tell me *very soon*! :-)

I am pleased that you are enjoying your blog and I love seeing your WIP photos!

Hugs,

Oh wow, Lois, it is FABULOUS!! You're making great progress.

I can totally relate to the feelings of putting yourself out there with the blog. When I started blogging, a friend found my blog right away, before I had told people I was blogging... really freaked me out. But it is loads of fun and you'll meet a lot of super wonderful people. I find that it also encourages me to keep stitching, because what else do I have to blog about?! So go for it. I am definitely one of those sit in the corner and watch everybody else type people... being center stage makes me lose control of bodily functions. Yeah, definitely not pretty. LOL Just remember that most people reading your blog are also bloggers, or are interested in what you are talking about, and don't feel awkward. I am just thrilled that you're blogging. Give it a bit and you'll see how much more comfortable you'll become with it. :)

Your Betsy is looking great! Congratulations for taking the step to start blogging. I think it may take me couple more months before I get the nerve to try it!

Hello Lois :-)
I'm here at your blog cos Siobhan sent me :-) Very pretty stitching.
I'm usually found at the back of a crowd too so it will be lovely to have some company.

Welcome, Lois! Love the Betsy sampler. I'm working on that also, along with 30 or so other WIPs. I have to say, the rotation/30 projects at a time thing is something we'll encourage you to do, if only to make ourselves feel better about a certain PROBLEM, so our reasoning goes if everyone is doing it, it's not such a problem, is it?

IRL I'm a back of the pack girl, but I find that blogging overcomes that quiet voice--you'll see! Looking forward to reading more and seeing your photos!

Welcome to the world of blogging. I am 6 months into my foray and loving it! I have 'met' some delightful ladies who encourage and enable me :-)

I am not a center stage person and always struggle with writing my entries as I know how boring I am :-)

I look forward to seeing more of your beautiful work - Sheepish Designs are some of my favorites.

Another one coming to visit, via Siobhan's post!! Welcome to blogland.

I hope you know you aren't alone, when I was contemplating starting a blog in early 2009, I had much the same thoughts. But once I did it, I was ever so glad, it was such fun, those anticipatory fears didn't matter a whit anymore!!

I love this design, one of my favorites, and alas still in my stash. Someday!!

For the most part, I'm also a one-project-at-a-time stitcher. I wouldn't have said that I did rotations either, but in reading blogs, I learned that I follow a "screaming rotation," i.e., I stitch whichever project is calling to me the loudest.

This is looking beautiful. I love those colors. I recently started my own blog and love being able to share my stitching since no one in my real life stitches. Welcome to the blogging world....I will be sure to come back. :)
