A little more progress....

Hi everyone!  First of all, thanks for all the encouragement last time round when I was feeling like I was making such slow progress on Christmas Garden.  I especially liked Mary’s thoughts of how I should look on it as a journey.  She is so right! So, from here on in I’m not going to be so hard on myself for feeling like I’m being slow but just enjoy the journey (and you will all know that when I do put the final stitches in this one I’ll be sad that I’m no longer working on it!). And having talked about said Christmas Garden…..

Now that the lower large motif is completed I can really see it all coming together (and that I should have ironed it better before taking pics!!!) and it also makes me realise just how much I have stitched!

My friend Margaret has recently finished a quilt as a wedding gift. I’ve watched this gorgeous quilt come together these last few months and when I saw it completed it was one of those ‘should have had my camera with me’ moments so had to make do with my (very old!) phone instead and take a quick picture.  The bride had been asked if she’d any preference in colours and said blue but other than that everything else was to be a surprise.  Just beautiful and I’ve since heard that the bride and groom were thrilled with it.

There’s a huge part of me that would love to quilt. I dabbled years ago, before I starting stitching, but so far I’ve kept myself in check about starting another addiction!!

Until next time……

Great progress on the Garden! I definitely missed it when I finished it, but that usually happens with any BBD :-) A little bit more with this one though...

Love Christmas Garden, it's so much fun isn't it???? The quilt is gorgeous too :-).

I have determined a long time ago, I am a one hobby girl, it's just too expensive to have another obsession, LOL.

Christmas Garden is coming along nicely! It is such a pretty piece. The quilt is very pretty. I have thought time and again that I would love to learn quilting ~ but you are so right, it would be a whole other addiction!

I had no idea that Christmas Garden was such a large piece, Lois!! It just keeps growing and growing--beautifully, I might add :)

And how lovely are the colors in Margaret's quilt. I think all of us, by nature, have that creative side that wants to explore other areas, but I know cross stitching is my "one true love!" I just don't have enough hours in the day as it is now!!

Enjoy your week, my friend--we are getting a bit of snow here this morning :(

Lois, your "Christmas Garden" is lovely...the colors, the motifs, your beautiful stitching! Yes, indeed, enjoy your journey on this one and know it will be a wonderful treasure when completed!

I can see why you would feel like it's taking forever. It's one of those big projects! I will remember that as I stitch it later this year. Yours is coming along beautifully though! Hang in there!

I know about the quilt thing and not wanting to add another obsession. there are lots of great fabrics out there, much more easily accessible than cross stitch for me (store wise)!

You are making wonderful progress on your sampler, Lois! The more I see this, the more I want to stitch it - very, very pretty!

A quilt is, I think, one of the best wedding gifts someone can receive (short of a million dollars or something like that) and this one is lovely!

Lois, keep up the good work on CG! I think the final finish is coming into view, and it looks very impressive. I've so enjoyed seeing the changes in it come to life every time you've posted them.

They quilt is also amazing. They'll be one lucky pair of newlyweds to recieve such a thoughtful gift.

Hi Lois!!
Your stitching is always amazing and lovely, this one is one exception.
I think you should leave this one out year round, it's just too pretty just for the Christmas holidays.

It's such a stunning piece isn't it?! Beautiful progress on Christmas Garden! Lovely quilt too! i'm like you, waffling about whether to give quilting a go. I think trying some small designs (pillows, placemats) might be a good way to go!!

Christmas Garden looks great, Lois! I think it's hard with blogs to feel as if you're making much progress, because everybody works at different speeds but it seems as if everyone goes faster. Enjoy the journey--I keep trying to remind myself of that!

Margaret's quilt is GORGEOUS!! I love those colors!
