A little Prairie Schooler...

Hard to believe that Christmas Day is just around the corner.  It is quiet here this morning so I thought I’d grab the chance to do a quick post to wish everyone a lovely Christmas and share some stitching before Christmas rather than after it.

My plans for stitching more PS Santas took a back seat from August onwards but I did finish five in total and in time to have them out on display.

This is the fifth one that I put the final stitches into a week or two back.

In a comment on my last post Siobhan mentioned my PS Twelve Days of Christmas which I stitched through 2011. Last Christmas I had them displayed on a wreath (you can see it here if you want to take a look) but with everything else going on this year that didn’t happen and I just have them displayed in a bowl.

My mum had her hip replacement surgery on Thursday.  She has come through the surgery and the doctors are pleased with her progress but she will be in hospital over Christmas.  Meanwhile my poor dad has developed shingles and is miserable with it. That has meant that he hasn’t seen my mum in a week now and I know that the two of them are missing each other especially with my mum going through surgery.

Our house is full again as our two sons and daughter arrived home at different times yesterday.  When DH and I got back last night it was lovely to walk into the house and have everyone here.  Christmas is going to be a little different for us this year but whether we sit down and eat turkey or not (we won’t be!) is of little consequence.  Far more important is spending time with loved ones.

Wishing each and every one of you a lovely Christmas in whatever way you spend it.
 Until next time……

I am so glad that your mother did well with the surgery, but am sorry to hear that your dad has shingles! Poor guy--I'm sure it's not helping either of them to not be able to see each other. :( I'm glad the kids are home, I'm sure your parents will be happy to see their grandchildren. You know I absolutely LOVE your PS ornaments! Serious drool time over here, looking at them!

Wishing you and yours a blessed Christmas and a happy new year!

Gorgeous Santas. Love your 12 days as well. Have a lovely Christmas. You are right when you said it is more important to be with loved ones than what you eat. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Glad to read that your mom's surgery went well. But, oh, your poor dad! Shingles are not fun at all!! Sending healing prayers to both of them! I can't imagine how hard it must be not being able to see each other right now. Enjoy the time with your family!
Loved seeing your PS goodies ~ they look wonderful in their displays!

Your 12 Days of Christmas looks just as cute in the bowl as it does on a wreath. So sorry to hear that your mom and dad haven't been able to see each other for a week but am happy to hear your mom is doing well with her surgery. Wishing you and yours a happy and safe holiday!

Oh I love all your PS goodness! Beautiful stuff! I'm so glad your kids are home and you will have them home for Christmas. Good that your mom had her hip surgery. But your poor father! :( And how hard for them both not to be able to see each other too. Have a happy happy Christmas. You're so right -- what's important is family and being together.

Hi Lois!

I haven't been around for awhile but I plan to catch up. Love your Santas and your other Christmas finishes too! I need to do that!

Gosh I know what you mean by a different Christmas this year. We are changing things up a bit as well. Glad your mom is doing ok post surgery. Oh your poor Dad!

Well, I hope you have a lovely Christmas with your family. You're right in that it's more important that you are all together! Enjoy!

What a relief to hear your mom's surgery was successful, Lois--I'm sure you're all very relieved that it is over. But, your poor dad--shingles can be so very painful. I hope he feels better soon. My poor mom is still feeling pain from her bout with shingles almost two years ago...

Your Santas are delightful--I'm stitching a couple of them right now myself. And I love the 12 Days in a bowl--I just may stitch them next year, too :)

So glad your house is full again--it's wonderful to have all of the kids "home for the holidays" isn't it?

Merry, merry Christmas, my friend!

Hi Lois! I'm jusr loving the 5 Santas, especially the way they're arranged to face off from the center one. What a great holiday display!

I'm also happy to hear your mother's hip replacement went well. But your poor dad! That's no fun at all.

So glad to hear your house will be full on Christmas morning. Enjoy every moment while you have it!

I adore your Santas. I am so sorry that your parents are both ill, it s never nice being in hospital but particularly so at Christmas. My Mother suffers from shingles so I know how unpleasant that can be.

Enjoy your children being home.

Glad to hear your mom's hip replacement went well but sorry your dad has shingles> Those are horrible (had them twice) and my mom gets them all the time. Very painful to handle and I hope he doesn't get them again.
